Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Pittstown FC?

Founded in 2008, Pittstown FC (aka “The Herd”) is an adult recreational soccer league

for men and women that emphasizes a competitive but friendly playing environment.

Think less “tryouts and trophies,” more “good runs, great vibes, and the occasional top-

    bin finish.”

  • Who can join the league?

The league is open to adult players of all skill and experience levels. Whether you’re a

seasoned striker or dusting off the boots for the first time in years, you’re welcome.

The only caveat: to be rostered, by May 1 st :

    • Men must be 33+
    • Women must be 30+
  • Where are games played?

Games take place at Finn Road Park in Union Township (Hunterdon County), New

Jersey—your new Thursday night home pitch.

  • When does the season run?

    • Fifteen (15) regular season games run April through late July
    • Playoffs in August (where legends are made… or at least talked about afterward)
    • Games are played on Thursday nights
  • When does registration open and close?

Registration usually opens in early February and closes within about two weeks.

Spots fill up quickly—don’t get caught offsides. Early registration is strongly

    recommended.

  • What if I missed registration?

You can join the waitlist, and the league will do its best to place you on a team if

openings arise. We try our best to get people on the pitch, but no promises!

  • How are teams formed?

Teams are organized through a player draft managed by team managers before the

    season begins.

We also use a highly confidential algorithm to help balance squads and keep

    competition fair and fun.

  • What is the level of competition?

The league strikes a balance between:

    • Competitive play
    • Inclusive, social atmosphere

It’s perfect for players who want structured games without the intensity of elite-level

leagues. Expect effort, laughs, and the occasional “I meant to do that” moments.

  • What is the commitment level like?

Games are once a week, and most teams appreciate regular attendance—but life

    happens.

If you can’t make a match, teams typically work it out with subs so no one is left playing

    a man down.

  • What are the two divisions?

Pittstown FC features two divisions to help keep games competitive and enjoyable for

    everyone:

    • Open Division – This is the more competitive flight. Expect a faster pace, tighter touches, and players who still have a few tricks in the bag (and aren’t afraid to use them).
    • Classic Division – Still competitive, but with a slightly more relaxed vibe. Perfectfor players who want good, organized soccer without quite as much intensity.

Both divisions play with the same spirit—competitive, respectful, and fun. Whether

you’re chasing glory or just chasing the ball, there’s a spot for you.

  • How do I get more information?

    You can:

    • Contact the league through the website’s Contact Info section
    •  Sign up during the registration window or join the waitlist
    • Stop by on a Thursday evening (April–August) to see the action for yourself—no scouting report needed
  • What makes Pittstown FC unique?

    • We welcome all skill levels
    • Focus on community, camaraderie, and fun
    • Offer structured league play + social environment
    • Have a long-standing history of community involvement and inclusion
    • And just enough competitiveness to keep things interesting (but not enough to ruin your night)!!
  • What is the Greek phrase on the logo?

Our motto: dicens ite in mente, dicens non in corpore translates (loosely) to: the mind

says go, the body says no!
